ORANJESTAD – Per 10 januari 2022 krijgt de ID-kaart extra kenmerken in het ontwerp. Daarmee wil de overheid vervalsingen tegengaan.
Het huidige ontwerp dateert van november 2003 en is nog steeds in omloop. Sinds 2013 zijn de echtheidskenmerken niet gewijzigd.
Het is volgens de autoriteiten belangrijk om de echtheidskenmerken op officiële identificatiedocumenten zoals ID-Kaarten, rijbewijs en paspoort continu te verbeteren om misbruik, fraude en vervalsing tegen te gaan.
