Afgelopen maandag had patrouilleschip de Zr.Ms. Friesland Nederland moeten verruilen voor het Caribisch gebied. Maar de aflosser van de Holland ligt nog in de haven van Den Helder en zal een week later zee kiezen. Momenteel is er dus geen stationsschip in de West.
Het vertrek van De Friesland is uitgesteld doordat meerdere bemanningsleden besmet waren met corona. Dat aantal bleek te hoog om zonder deze personen veilig de Atlantische Oceaan over te kunnen steken. Daarnaast kampte het schip met een technisch mankement.
Komende maandag wordt de hele bemanning weer getest en het vertrek van de Friesland staat nu op dinsdag gepland. Normaliter duurt de oversteek elf dagen.
