ORANJESTAD – De Staten van Aruba is akkoord gegaan met de aanvullende begroting 2021. Alle oppositiefracties stemden tegen.
De grootste oppositiepartij AVP vindt het niet uit te leggen dat ambtenaren demonstreren om de 12,6 procent salarisverlaging te laten terugdraaien en dat aan de andere kant de overheid 142 medewerkers in vaste dienst neemt. ,,Het College Aruba financieel toezicht herhaalt intussen het advies aan de regering om de 8 miljoen florin, bestemd voor het opvullen van de vacatures, terug te draaien”, aldus parlementariër Gerlien Croes. Ze wijst op de benoeming van enkele coördinatoren tot werknemer in vaste dienst bij Directie Volksgezondheid, waar een nieuwe transportdienst voor patiëntenvervoer wordt opgetuigd. Croes noemt ook de 53 medewerkers die bij het Sociaal Crisis Plan werken. ,,Er is geen zicht op de salarissen die deze mensen verdienen.”
Volgens de minister van Financiën, Xiomara Maduro (MEP), is het meeste geld bestemd om personeel aan te trekken voor Korps Politie Aruba, Korrektie Instituut Aruba, de douane en Bureau Rampenbestrijding, waar veel mensen nodig zijn.
